Sustainable Home Tour – Yarraville

Knowing how to get started when buying, building or renovating your sustainable home can be tricky. There\’s a lot to consider – from passive design to green technology, to selecting the right builder or finding the right materials. Melbourne Vernacular, in collaboration with Maribyrnong City Council, welcome you into their sustainable home.

You’ll start with a tour of the 100 year old renovated cottage and learn about sustainable design and technology that helps makes the house efficient, comfortable, healthy and cheaper to run. The tour will be followed by a presentation by owners Scott and Leanne on their greatest lessons learnt and tips that will help you get started on your sustainable build or renovation, including:

– Resources and information

– Creating your brief and decidng on your non-negotiables

– Building contracts

– Avoiding set-backs

– Sustainable technologies, and

– Home automation.

Come and pick the brains of the owners, receive practical advice and connect with others starting their sustainable house journey. You’ll walk away with some great ideas, useful contacts and the confidence to get going on your own project.

Each session is limited to a small group of people, and exact address will be provided closer to the date.
