The Inner West Community Bike Hub is a nonprofit initiative dedicated to providing people in the inner west with access to bicycles and cycling. Our mission is to bring the community together with bikes.

The foundation of the hub is the Footscray Community Bike Shed, run by Rodney from the Rotary Club of Footscray for the last five years.

The community bike shed’s aims are to:

  • Share and learn skills repairing and maintaining bicycles
  • Recycle donated bikes and promote sustainability in an active community
  • Provide refugees and others in need with bicycles and equipment
  • Create a place where all members of our community can learn about and experience bicycles and cycling together.

We also offer affordable bicycle servicing and repairs provided by experienced mechanics.

Our bike service and repair workshop runs from Monday to Friday with all profits going toward our community bike shed and bicycle education programs.

Becoming a member of IWCBH gives you access to the full range tools and other equipment available on Saturdays, as well as the member tool stand and free advice during the week. Members become part of the Bike Hub community and can use our facilities, receive special offers and join our online community group, while contributing to a worthwhile cause.

Membership costs $10 per person for one year.

We welcome volunteers at our Community Bike Shed program. If you would like to get involved you can email us at or send us a message on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. If you prefer, just show up at the Bike Hub on a Saturday. There are various volunteer activities that don’t require a high level of technical knowledge. All welcome.

Our Community Bike Shed relies on donations of unused bicycles from people in the community. If you have a bike that you would like to donate, please bring it to IWCBH during our opening hours.
