For the second year running, the Seddon Community Bank has supported the Moonee Valley Bridge Club (MVBC) annual Congress (competition) at the Ormond Park Bowling Club next to the freeway entrance on Ormond Rd.
296 players took part in the card game ‘bridge’, a challenging and highly competitive game that’s popular world-wide.
While most participants were members of the MVBC, many of the best players from other metropolitan and regional Victorian bridge clubs also joined in.
There were four different events held over the three days, Novice, Restricted, Open Pairs and Teams. The Congress caters for those players very new to the game to the most experienced. Winners in each event received a small cash prize.
The congress requires a lot of effort to organise and many club members volunteered to set up and assist during the event. Lunches were provided by the Moonee Valley Football Club staff, helping to raise funds for their club. The footy club rooms were also used on Saturday as not everyone could be accommodated in the bridge club rooms.
As well as lots of great, competitive bridge, the players enjoyed a mobile coffee cart and food and drinks at the bar at the end of the day.
If you are interested in learning to play bridge, the MVBC welcome new members and can be contacted via their website www.mvbc.asn.au
A very big thanks to the Community Bank Seddon, all involved, and looking forward to seeing an even bigger event next year.
