The Westsider is Australia’s first community newspaper certified as a social enterprise.

Founded in 2014, this unique non-profit model empowers local voices often overlooked by mainstream media. Powered by volunteers and funded by local businesses, The Westsider advocates for the people, places, and stories that make Melbourne’s western suburbs so diverse and unique.

Through its newspaper and newly launched Westsider Radio, it connects, informs, and inspires the local community.

Print-focused, people first

Up to 10,000 editions  are printed and delivered every month. You can subscribe to get a digital edition by email, or browse more than 3,500 articles on the website thewestsider.com.au.

The newspaper is supported by Local Impact, who provide essential business services, operational support and funding, our valuable community partners, and advertising.
