Community Bank Seddon supporting Big Group Hug’s PJs, Jocks & Socks Campaign!

News

Big Group Hug is an organisation serving communities in the north and west of Melbourne to tackle child poverty. They help vulnerable children who are living in crisis by distributing essential items in times of need.

They’re committed to supporting every young family who asks for help while ensuring that the child remains the focus of everything they do.

Do you remember the feeling of a hug when you were a child?

The warmth. The safety. The spontaneous smile that surfaced mid-hug. There’s nothing better. That’s the feeling that drives them! They want every child who lives in poverty to feel the warmth of our collective hug.

As part of their annual campaign, Big Group Hug supports over 7,700 children in Victoria living in hardship by providing the essential items they need, from newborns to teenagers aged 16.

In every clothing pack gifted, children will receive new PJ’s, Jocks & socks, giving children who are already doing it tough, some dignity and love.

Throughout March, the team Community Bank Seddon will be welcoming donations of kids’ winter pjs (size 2 – 16), kids’ underwear for children at their branch. Drop by any time Monday – Friday, 9.30am – 4.00pm.

Alternatively, Big Group Hug are also contributing to a sustainable future by giving pre-loved donations a new life so that they can, in turn, give a child a better life.

Every day the Big Group Hug team upcycles, recycles and rehomes items, going to extraordinary efforts to find a use for second-hand donations and avoid disposing of them.

Their dedicated volunteers launder and repair second-hand goods to ensure they’re in good condition and meet Australian safety standards. They welcome a long list of new and pre-loved baby and child essentials such as cots, high chairs, prams,  For all such donations, please get in touch with Big Group Hug directly via their website https://biggrouphug.org/support-us/

Any donation they can’t use gets passed on to one of their partner organisations, avoiding landfill where possible.

In the 2024 – 2025 financial year, they distributed the following to families:

96,342 nappies
