As part of this year’s COVID-19 restrictions in Melbourne, the CWA Footscray have not been able to delight locals with their regular cake and produce stall. This has resulted in a stockpile of homemade produce and no opportunity to fundraise for their organisation.
Fortunately the team at the branch were more than happy to step in and create an in-branch produce stall to sell the ladies’ wonderful array of jams, chutneys, sauces and pickles to customers and locals.
In these challenging times, a simple jar of homemade raspberry jam can really make someone’s day and customer (and staff) demand has been overwhelming. So much so, produce has needed to be re-stocked every week. At last count, the team had sold over $1,200 in produce, much to the surprise and delight of the CWA ladies.
In recent weeks, the collaboration has spread to other CWA branches and Bendigo Community Banks, including our friends at the Laverton branch and CWA Pt Cook, with inquiries now coming in from other regions of Melbourne.
And to top it all off, Louise and the team put together a wonderful morning tea, including delivery packs for the team working from home, to say thank you and also acknowledge RUOK? Day. There’s nothing like a homemade scone, raspberry jam and cream to bring a smile during these challenging times so the staff have decided to now ‘pay it forward’ and make a donation to RUOK? Day.
We’re pleased to say that this is exactly what community banking is all about – the opportunity for locals to collaborate to create a thriving and vibrant community.
