Since the onset of Covid-19, the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC) has experienced record demand for food support. Prior to the pandemic, they were supporting around 650 people with essential food and toiletries each week. That number has skyrocketed to more 1500+ since March.
With no government safety net available to them, people seeking asylum are left with nowhere else to turn for basic necessities when faced with unemployment. This is one just one of the many reasons why the team at the branch have decided to support the ASRC this Christmas with a Festive Food Drive.
Food and essential items will be welcomed under the Christmas Tree at the branch from 1st – 21st December so they can be distributed in time for Christmas. All food items must be non-perishable with a list of preferred items below.
Thank you so much to our wonderful community who have supported our community campaigns throughout this challenging year – we really appreciate your ongoing support in helping us to help others.
