Students lead social enterprises

News

The future generation are taking the social enterprise model in their stride and we’re here to help!

Kids nowadays know a lot about doing good, and getting things done, for them, a business with purpose is a no-brainer. In fact, for students at Footscray West Primary School, thinking ‘big picture’ is something that comes naturally. Traditional business models are outdated, there’s a new way of doing business in town and the kids would be proud to tell you about it. When grade five and six students presented their social enterprise ideas to our board, they were blown away. It was tough for Andy and Suzanne from Inner West Community Enterprise to pick a winner, but, there had to be one.

Introducing, ‘Sunday Funday’, a concept where parents and children unite and play sport as a family. In total, their idea raised $1254 to go towards supporting a worthy cause. Isn’t that a great achievement?! Here at Seddon Community Bank® Branch, we thought so too.

Special mention goes to all the social enterprise groups who participated:

  • E-Pops – homemade icy poles
  • Imperfect Scoop
  • Compostables & Green Garden
  • Warm Hug
  • Never Mind
  • Sunday Funday
  • Have a Chat
  • Little Legends

A big thank you to the local sporting groups and businesses who volunteered their time:

  • Maribyrnong Swifts Soccer Club
  • Footscray Hawks Basketball
  • West Footscray Roosters Football Club
