For the month of February, our branch will be supporting Big Group Hug’s Annual PJs, Socks & Jocks Campaign, collecting underwear and pyjamas for newborns to 16 year olds.

Big Group Hug provides essential aid to over 6,000 children every year through our network of support workers, Maternal Child Health staff and welfare agencies. The children they help are in families facing financial hardship, they may have recently fled family violence, or their parent(s) may have lost their job and struggling to make ends meet.  In all of these situations the children deserve to feel dignified and comfortable while they are at school and play. The donations you provide can do that for them.

Last financial year, the organisation received requests for 4,902 clothing packs for children aged newborn to 16 years. Every clothing pack includes at least 2 pairs of PJs, 4 pairs of underwear, 3 singlets, 3 pairs of socks. Providing that minimum quantity for 4,902 clothing packs, means they need 55,460 individual items for the year.

Unfortunately last year, they didn’t have enough. While their PJS, Jocks and Socks drive collected 11,191 items, it only lasted a few months. This February, with your help, we hope to assist them to collect at least 25% of their total target – that’s 13,750 pieces of NEW sleepwear and underwear.
