Community Recycling

Our team are big on recycling and through working with our various community partners, we have found there are so many ways you can donate and recycle your unused items and save them from landfill!

We regularly hold clothing and food drives on behalf of these organisations, however outside of those times, there are plenty of options below –

Recycle Your Old Bikes – Community Bike Hub

The Inner West Community Bike Hub in Footscray welcomes old bikes of all sizes that are no longer of use. If the bike can be repaired, it will be recycled and donated to community members in need.

If not, the bike will be dismantled, spare parts salvaged and leftover parts appropriately recycled to avoid landfill.

Bed Linen, Pillows, Doonas – Reaching Out in the Inner West of Melbourne

Reaching Out in the Inner West supports people experiencing homelessness or generally in need with home cooked meals, fresh food and vegetables, pantry supplies and warm bedding. Master Dry Cleaners at 83A Charles St, Seddon kindly dry clean all items that are dropped in for donation at no cost.

Furniture, Appliances, Homewares – West Welcome Wagon

Would you like to donate good quality second-hand items to asylum seekers in Melbourne’s west? One of the core purposes of West Welcome Wagon is to provide material aid to our houses in need.

The most common items they collect are children’s items, home entertainment & computers, kitchen items, large household items including appliances, linen, toiletries. For a complete list and donation process, see link below.

Composting – Yarraville Community Garden

Yarraville Community Garden has a compost area which is open to the locals to drop their fruit and vegetable waste so that it can be composted and used in the garden.

Bins are accessible at all times but please chop your contributions to ensure there is room for everyone. Location – McNish Reserve, 30 Court Street, Yarraville 3013

Warm Clothing & Pantry Items – West Footscray Neighbourhood House

WFNH are assist people doing it tough with clothing wardrobe and pantry items.  They are seeking donations of clothing to top up the wardrobe as well as in-date non perishable food for the pantry. Drop off is at West Footscray Neighbourhood House, upstairs at 539 Barkly Street (upstairs in the same building as West Footscray Library).

Pantry Items – Yarraville Community Centre

YCC have identified a demand in our community for food relief since cost of living has surged so have set up a Food Pantry for those in need. Donations of unopened in date dry pantry items and non-perishables are welcomed can be dropped off at the pantry directly or at the office.

The Pantry is located at 59 Francis Street, Yarraville opposite the main entrance

Pet Donations – Lost Dogs Home

The Lost Dogs Home welcomes donations of the following items in good condition –

Blankets, beach and bath towels, dog coats, dog and puppy toys, kitten and cat toys as well as wet and dog dry food (no other items please). Items can be dropped to the Lost Dogs’ Home, 2 Gracie St, North Melbourne.
