We’re on a mission to empower local sporting clubs and community groups by providing them with the funding they need to thrive. In return, we’ll be there every step of the way, offering recognition and support to help create stronger and more sustainable community partnerships.

The Community Grants Program is managed by the Seddon Community Bank Branch with the following criteria –

  • Funding applications under $1000.
  • Grants are generally for school and community funds raising events such as fetes, trivia nights, art shows and aimed at supporting smaller community groups and events throughout the year.
  • Only applicants operating within our core geographical area will be considered including Footscray, Kingsville, Maidstone, Maribyrnong, Seddon, Spotswood, West Footscray, Yarraville. Also Flemington, Kensington & Ascot Vale
  • Applications can be made throughout the year
  • Community Sponsorship provides funding for clubs and organisations seeking amounts over $1000 (excluding GST).
  • Key eligibility criteria must be met prior to a sponsorship application being considered (as detailed below).
  • Applications open twice a year from 1 – 30 August and 1 December – 31 January
  • Only ONE application will be accepted each financial year
  • Our next sponsorship period opens 1 December 2023 – 31 January 2024

Location

Only applicants operating within our core geographical area would be considered. As a local Community Bank, we consider our core geographical community to include the :

  • Footscray
  • Kingsville
  • Maidstone
  • Maribyrnong
  • Seddon
  • Spotswood
  • West Footscray
  • Yarraville
  • Flemington
  • Kensington
  • Ascot Vale

Organisational Structure

Organisations must have an ABN and fit within structure below:

  • Non-for-profit (incorporated association)
  • Community Group
  • Sporting Club
  • School or educational facility
  • Community Support Group (eg: Rotary, Lions Club)
  • Ethnically Diverse Organisations

We will not consider applications supporting individuals or private enterprise.

All applicants must have their main banking with Community Bank Seddon

As we are a community bank, we rely on our customers to earn our revenue. It is essential that our customers understand that we are able to support the organisations that contribute to the profits we make. Therefore, we will only sponsor clubs and organisations that have their main banking with the Community Bank Seddon.

Growing our customer base and banking business enables us to provide more funds back to the community. It’s as simple as that.

The more our community supports our bank, the more our bank can support our community.

Summer Applications: 

OPEN: 1st August @ 9.00am

CLOSE: 31st August @ 4.00pm

Applications open to summer clubs only but also including Christmas Carols, local spring & summer festivals and events. Applicants will be informed of the outcome of their application by 30th September.

Winter Applications:

OPEN: Thursday 1st December @ 9.00am

CLOSE: Tuesday 31st January @ 4.00pm

Applications open for winter clubs only but also including autumn / winter festivals and events. Applicants will be informed of the outcome of their application by the 28th February.

Please note –

Clubs and organisations can only apply once per year.

Late applications will not be considered.

Applications will be considered in two periods each year as detailed above.

STEP 1 – Check your eligibility

STEP 2 – Apply Online

To apply, please fill out the application form online. Only online applications will be considered.

Additional documents can be attached to the application as long as they are in an acceptable format (eg: Word, Excel, PDF or jpeg) and don’t exceed maximum file size of 5MB

Preference will be given to organisations who support the following:

  • Youth-focused activities
  • Education
  • Social Enterprise

Marketing & Promotion of Organisation & Events

  • Community Events Calendar in The Westsider
  • Social Media – Facebook & Instagram
  • Digital TV screens in branch
  • Community Stories – Community Bank Seddon website and The Westsider

Event Support

  • Free marquee hire
  • Piggy mascot
  • Bank vouchers for juniors

It is a requirement that:

  • The recipient organisation has a dedicated person to promote the partnership with the Community Bank Seddon within the organisation.
  • The organisation will also provide Community Bank Seddon with a Calendar of Events for each year of the partnership in order for us to promote and attend the events

There will be a requirement for community clubs and organisations to detail how they would promote their partnership with Community Bank Seddon. To assist with ideas, we have identified some of the past promotions provided by clubs and organisations. These are ideas you may wish to include but are not limited to:

  • Email campaign to database of members and associates
  • Newsletters
  • Website
  • Social Media
  • Social Media – Facebook, instagram, Linked In
  • Opportunity to present at committee meetings
  • Opportunity to present at Annual Functions, Presentations, Awards Nights
  • Naming rights
  • Signage
  • Apparel branding
  • Equipment branding
  • Introduce Community Bank Seddon to other sponsors and partners

8.1 Assessment

Eligible applications will be assessed based on responses provided in the application form.

Eligibility does not guarantee success. It is expected that more applications will be received than can be funded.

Applicants will receive written notification of the outcome of the assessment process.

8.2 Payments

Invoices need to be made out to Community Bank Seddon for the amount of sponsorship provided excl GST. Please ensure GST is added is your organisation is registered for GST. Payments should be received within 14 days of invoice being received.

8.3 Acquittal

It is required that the following details are provided as part of the acquittal process

  • Photos of the event / project / program suitable for Community Bank Seddon to use for marketing.
  • Acknowledgement of the Community Bank Seddon’s contribution to members and volunteers / staff of the applicant organisation.
  • Confirmation that the funding was spent as requested, together with a short story about the outcome of the event / program / project that can be used for Community Bank Seddon’s marketing.
  • The acquittal should be received no more than 30 days after the event has concluded or the program / project funds have been spent.
