Event Details
Over one hundred years ago Gustav Holst wrote his classical suite ‘The Planets’, drawing on metaphors and myths to showcase our solar system as seen from Earth. Now his magnificent score will be brought to life in the Melbourne Planetarium with a one-off special evening event.
Join the Westgate Concert Band as they perform live the full musical suite ‘The Planets’ accompanied with spectacular full-dome visuals. Be prepared to be awed and delighted as we journey to each planet, soaring alongside Holst’s dazzling musical interpretation of the ancient mythology surrounding each one, ringing out with different musical instruments and even a live choral arrangement.
A magnificent chance to travel across space, back in time with ancient mythology and classical music, a one-off special event not to be missed!
The Westgate Concert Band will perform ‘The Planets’ twice in the evening, at 7pm and 9pm. Each performance will be a repeat of the full suite of music. Doors open 30 minutes prior to the selected performance.
This event has limited capacity, so please book early to avoid disappointment.
