Enjoy a day of social distancing in the outdoors, connecting with nature and helping Koalas.
Help to maintain koala habitat in the You Yangs by removing Boneseed weeds.
UPDATE due to Covid-19 restrictions: This activity has changed. Our groups are limited to 10 people until further notice, transport options are limited to travel in your own car*, and we have created some social distance boundaries on the day. We are no longer providing use of shared binoculars or gardening gloves, and all participants must bring a reusable drinking cup if they want coffee or tea.
Participants will be removing Boneseed weeds in the outdoors. We allow 1.5 hours for this activity. You will be given remote guidance by a leader, but you will be allocated patches to remove weeds only in the company of your own family, or by yourself.
Part of the day will be spent watching wild koalas in their natural habitat. You will be accompanied by two wildlife professionals who will guide you through the You Yangs regional park. We will also introduce you to the koalas known from 20 years of koala research in the area.
