Counterweight Vinyl are best known for their jungle, hip hop and dubstep sounds along with some of the best coffee the west has to offer. They are described as great community allies who collaborate with local artists and introduce new sounds to Melbourne’s west. Not to mention, they are no strangers to activating Maddern Square especially after putting on a fantastic show as part of the ‘One Night in Footscray’ in 2019.

That said, we are excited to announce that Counterweight Vinyl will take over Maddern Square as part of the Footscray University Town Placemaking Residency project that aims to revitalise Footscray as a hub of knowledge, learning, creativity and opportunity, with benefits for the whole community.

Over the next two months Maddern Square will come alive with DJs, spoken word and poetry, craft markets, hip hop dancers, a fashion parade and much more!

Come celebrate the city’s diversity, sustainability, equality and local pride in the square.
