With over 3 million tops collected locally and another 2 million tops expected to come in over the next few weeks, phase 1 of Envision’s bottle top recycling campaign is now complete!
The team at Envision are amazed at the overwhelming response and community support and cannot thank everyone enough for their commitment and contribution to the Envision Hands project.
Now that they have met this goal they need to look forward and move towards Phase 2. This involves speeding up the manufacture of hands from all the lids collected so far and given the huge numbers of lids already collected, it will take them some time to use them all. So for the time being, they would appreciate everyone holding off from forwarding more tops. Once they have made inroads into the current stockpile, they will notify everyone when it’s time to start collecting again.
This is an exciting time for Envision, as they move to further speed up the processing of bottle tops into prosthetic hands. Because of the generosity and community support. they are also looking at developing other products that will assist disadvantaged people both in Australia and overseas.
As part of phase two of their project, Envision have a goal to raise $50,000 to assist them to buy more efficient equipment to help them process the bottle tops more effectively. To support their fundraising efforts, Envision are holding a Bottle Top Bingo Night at Kindred Studios in Yarraville on Friday 11th October (details below). Prizes on the night include a night at the Pan Pacific Hotel Southbank, Melbourne, a double pass to Peninsula Hot Springs, a voucher to Luxsmith Restaurant in Seddon and movie tickets for the Sun Theatre.
