Candy Ng is a Melbourne-based fine artist, live event fashion illustrator and calligrapher.
Originally from Hong Kong, Candy built a successful career as a banker, working in mortgages and financial planning. While she thrived in the fast-paced corporate world, something always felt out of sync. After long workdays, she often found herself questioning her life’s purpose, chasing the quiet satisfaction that only creativity could give her.
“There was a turning point,” Candy recalls after a car accident, “where I just knew life was too short not to be doing something that fired me up.”
In 2020, she took her first step toward a creative life and gradually transitioned from full-time finance into full-time art. In just a few years, Candy has seen rapid growth across all areas of her business, including exhibitions and collaborations with luxury brands. By the end of 2024, she officially left the corporate world to focus on her art business. It was a bold move that allowed her to fully step into the creative life she had always dreamed of.
In her studio, Candy captures the beauty in everyday objects. She uses light, vibrant colours and texture to create a sense of warmth, nostalgia and quiet joy. Each still life oil painting is a visual love letter to slow moments, such as a vase of wilting flowers or a plate of oysters shared with loved ones. Her paintings are a way of preserving memories, often inspired by food, interiors and the poetic details that celebrate life.
Her work has been showcased in exhibitions across Melbourne, including SOL Gallery, Unassigned Gallery and Queen Victoria Women Centre. She collaborated with Pullman Hotels on the E/SCAPES By Pullman NFT digital art exhibition, which was displayed in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Brisbane. Candy has also completed artist residencies at Artsbox at Footscray Library and Kingston Arts Centre.
Outside the studio, Candy is one of the most in-demand live event illustrators and calligraphers in Australia. She has worked with over 30 international luxury brands, including Prada, Celine, Porsche and Montblanc, as well as corporate clients and private events such as weddings. Her live art brings an interactive and elegant touch to special occasions, capturing moments in a way that feels both memorable and timeless.
For Candy, art is more than something visual. It is emotional. “Art is a visual record of a time, place, experience or dream. It transports us to a feeling, whether real or imagined.”
Candy believes that art has the power to inspire, connect and preserve fleeting moments. Whether through her still life paintings or live event illustrations, she aims to create artworks that hold emotion, beauty and story.
Candy’s work will be on display at Community Bank Seddon from 1st August – 1st October 2025. Visitors are welcome Monday to Friday, 9.30 am to 4.00 pm.
