The adventure kicks off at Quang Vinh with a first taste of the Vietnamese food for which St Albans is so well known in a big, bustling restaurant that has served locals and in-the-know destination diners for more than a decade.
From there it’s a short walk to Phi Phi 2, for an Asian barbecue. A Viet-Chinese landmark and home of quite possibly one of the most hilariously worded takeaway menus in town, Phi Phi is a place where chicken in a steamed bun is sold as “Bao Chicka Wow Wow”, the house special is called Cluck Norris, and charcoal-grilled meat with vermicelli, Vietnamese salad, mint and fish sauce is billed as “Rollin’ in the Beef”.
The night concludes with dessert at Pista House, St Albans’ home of Indian sweets and snacks, a sweet and spicy taste of the subcontinent.
