Event Details

Join Wiradjuri Elders Uncle Dick and Aunty Ruth Carney in conversation with a cuppa as they share their story and their experiences in producing their theatre show A Little Piece of Heaven. The performance is an intimate story telling experience with two exceptional Elders – a soft-spoken shearer Uncle Dick Carney and his beautiful enigmatic and sometimes cheeky wife Aunty Ruth Carney.

In 55 years of marriage, Dick and Ruth Carney have been through loss and triumph, learned and grown together, and built a life that is a testament to their endurance, generosity, and love. Starting on a dusty old bridge where they first fell in love as teenagers, the Elders tell their story in their words, delivering an extraordinary untold tale of Aboriginal life in country NSW through the twentieth century.
