News

For the third year in a row, Yarraville Footscray Bowling Club played host to the Junior Singles Tournament. The tournament hosted 32 players from all over Victoria including Altona,  Deer Park,  Victoria Bowls Club(Ballarat), Norlane, Mitcham, Bendigo east, Camperdown, Paynesville, Glenroy, Sunbury, Altona Sports, Whittlesea, Port Melbourne, Essendon, Clayton, Queenscliff, Drysdale, Parkdale, Leopold, Winchelsea, Simpson, Bairnsdale, & Yarraville-Footscray.

This year, the conditions of play were changed a little with 4 games played x 14 ends on Monday and 3 games x 14 ends Tuesday.  This made things run more evenly with all juniors playing the same amount of bowls.

They also added in the best female and male player from the second day to help give more people a chance of winning.

After the 7 games had been completed, they had the following results:

Joshua Lescynski from Sunbury winning with 7 wins and 38 shots up (second year in a row).

‘Runners-Up Max Heaton Harris from Winchelsea with 6 wins and 1 draw and 59 shots up.

Third place went to Bailee Randell from Deer Park with 6 wins & 78 shots up.

Fourth place went to Koby Cromie with 6 wins & 36 shots up.

Best female player went to Ashusa Fortune from Sunbury

Best male player went to Jack Wardrope from Port Melbourne

As sponsors of the event, Dom and Stu enjoyed learning the nuances of the games while watching the strongly contested final before presenting the winners with their prizes. “Always great to see young people playing sport. The standard was incredible,” said Stu.
